Does PicSy upload my photos to the cloud?
No. Indexing and search run entirely on your device. Files never leave your computer unless you explicitly pick a cloud model — and then only the single image you analyze is sent, using your own API key.
Do I need an API key or subscription?
No. Run it fully offline and free with Ollama or LM Studio. Prefer Claude, GPT, or Gemini? Bring your own key — there's no PicSy subscription.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows, macOS, and Linux.
What image formats can it index?
Common formats including JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF, and many RAW types (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG and more).
Can it find duplicate and similar images?
Yes — exact duplicates by content hash, plus visually similar images via perceptual hashing and color-histogram matching.
Can it search text inside images?
Yes. OCR extracts text from screenshots, receipts, and documents so you can search by the words they contain.
