Privacy by design.
PicSy was built local-first. Here's exactly how your data is handled.
Your library stays on your device
PicSy indexes and searches your images entirely on your own computer. Building the index, generating thumbnails, running searches, finding duplicates, and reading text from images all happen locally. Running a search never sends your photos anywhere.
AI analysis is your choice
To understand the contents of your images, PicSy uses a vision AI model that you select:
- Local models (fully offline): with Ollama or LM Studio, analysis runs on your machine and no image data leaves it.
- Cloud models (opt-in): if you choose a provider such as Claude, GPT, or Gemini, only the specific image being analyzed is sent to that provider, using your own API key and subject to that provider's terms. You decide if and when to use this.
Your API keys
If you add a cloud provider key, it is stored locally and encrypted using your operating system's secure keychain where available. Keys are never sent to MANY Holdings.
What we don't do
- We don't upload, copy, or scan your photo library to our servers.
- We don't sell your data or use your images to train models.
- We don't track the contents of your library.
